Applications of Bioisosteres in Drug Design

This course will focus on the role and practical applications of bioisosteres in drug design. After a brief background on the history of isosteres, the course will capture the full range of applications of isosteres in a fashion that focuses on using isosteres to surmount the kind of problems encountered in contemporary drug discovery campaigns.

This course is based on short course presentations made at consecutive ACS ProSpectives conferences in 2008 and 2009. It has also been presented internally at Bristol-Myers Squibb as part of internal medicinal chemistry courses. This course can be taken in conjunction with Designing around Toxicophores in Drug Discovery.
