Roger R. Conrad, CSP, CCHO
is recently retired after 37 years with Air Products and Chemicals, Allentown, Pennsylvania where he was a Senior Principal Safety Specialist. Prior to entering the safety field he worked in the labs as a research chemist. He is currently a Hazardous Materials Specialist with the Lehigh County (PA) Special Operations Team and the Assistant Fire Chief with the Good Will Fire Company #1 Trexlertown (PA).
He has a BS in Chemistry from Muhlenberg College and a MS in Inorganic Chemistry from Lehigh University. Mr. Conrad is a Certified Safety Professional in Comprehensive Practice and a Certified Chemical Hygiene Officer. He is Past Chair (two terms) of the National Safety Council\’s Research, Development, and Emerging Technologies Section, and current Treasurer of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers. He is a past board member of the Pennsylvania Association of Hazardous Materials Technicians (3 year term). He received the National Safety Council\’s Advanced Safety Certificate. He earned state certifications as Hazardous Materials Technician, Fire Fighter 1 and 2, Fire Instructor 1, Fire Officer 1 and 2. In 2011 the Good Will Fire Company awarded him with Fire Fighter of the Year. Mr. Conrad serves as Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator for Upper Macungie Township (PA) and earned state certifications at the basic, advanced and professional levels. Mr. Conrad has provided laboratory safety training and conducted laboratory safety audits throughout the United States and in England, Netherlands, and Germany.
Mr. Conrad is a Certified Safety Professional, Certified Chemical Hygiene Officer, and holds the National Safety Council\’s Advanced Safety Certificate. He has been an instructor with the American Chemical Society since 1990.
