Roger Conrad, CSP, CCHO, worked for 37 years with Air Products & Chemicals (Allentown, PA), where he was a Senior Principal Safety Specialist. Prior to entering the safety field, he worked in the labs as a research chemist in various R&D departments.
Mr. Conrad has provided laboratory safety training and conducted safety audits internationally. He has given several presentations at National Safety Council annual conferences. He has been an instructor with the American Chemical Society since 1990.
Mr. Conrad served two terms as Chair of the National Safety Council’s Research, Development and Emerging Technologies Section, and recently completed 4 years as Treasurer of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the American Society of Safety Professionals. He is a past board member of the Pennsylvania Association of Hazardous Materials Technicians, and past adjunct faculty member at Northampton Community College (PA), where he taught a course in Laboratory Safety and a course in Chemistry for Fire Fighters. He served with the Good Will Fire Company #1 Trexlertown (PA) as Safety Officer for 2 years and Assistant Fire Chief for 7 years.
Mr. Conrad has a BS in Chemistry from Muhlenberg College and an MS in Inorganic Chemistry from Lehigh University. He is a Certified Safety Professional in Comprehensive Practice and a Certified Chemical Hygiene Officer.
Mr. Conrad received the National Safety Council’s Advanced Safety Certificate. He earned state certifications as Hazardous Materials Technician, Fire Fighter 1 and 2, Fire Instructor 1, Fire Officer 1 and 2. In 2011 the Good Will Fire Company awarded him with Fire Fighter of the Year.
Roger Conrad currently works as a Hazardous Materials Specialist with the Lehigh County (PA) Special Operations Team, and Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator for Upper Macungie Township (PA).
